The City of Mumbai is one of the world’s most dynamic cities with a population of 21 million residents. As the city continues to evolve, the Municipality has set goals for improved facilities, services and also streetscape amenities.

As street furniture and wayfinding experts, KDA were retained by Laqshya Media to work with their outdoor advertising division to develop a system of products that could be self-funded with revenue-generating media.

Conducting a detailed study of all vehicular and pedestrian arteries within Mumbai’s District Seven – a fast developing, relatively young area of Mumbai, KDA designed the following program elements: Gateway signage entering zone seven; vehicular overhead signage; pedestrian wayfinding; retail kiosks; taxi-stand shelters; ad columns; information kiosks; pubic benches; litter/recycling receptacles; and automated public toilets.

Scope included consultation sessions with the City of Mumbai, audit of neighbourhoods, and final design presentations and submission to authorities. KDA and the Laqshya team prepared complete location plans for all elements illustrating how District Seven will be enhanced and beautified for the Mumbai population.
