For one of Canada’s best community teaching hospitals, KDA developed a coordinated interior and exterior wayfinding master plan and user-friendly signage Program.
KDA conducted a detailed user-need audit, along with focus group studies with visitors and patients to identify issues with the existing campus wayfinding. One of the key issues identified was confusion caused by tunnel and bridge connections between buildings with no identification for arrival or departure between facilities.
As a result, KDA created a detailed program based on visual icons that landmark each of the respective buildings, combined with colour and naming to provide clear orientation within the campus environs. This initiative was supported by map graphics and related signage to complete the system.
