Exterior and Interior Signage and Wayfinding Master Plan
Client: York University
As it was undergoing a new identity program, York University retained the services of KDA to develop and implement a signage and wayfinding program for the 550-acre university. KDA was responsible for designing a new vehicular and pedestrian wayfinding system, and a comprehensive interior signage program that is clear and easy to use, communicates the university’s new brand identity, respects the architecture of the campus and presents a consistent and timeless aesthetic that would remain relevant throughout York’s long-term expansion.
Flexibility was fundamental to the York sign system. KDA’s solution enables quick, cost-efficient message updates in order to address dynamic changes in campus scholastic programming.
KDA’s design addresses safety concerns, provides more navigational night routes, and reflects the tradition of innovation and green-space openness of this contemporary learning and research institution.
