Built into a natural terraced ravine setting, ‘child-friendly’ wayfinding with clear floor level identification was of number one importance to KDA’s signage strategy for this renowned science centre.

KDA designed a fully-bilingual system for the five-storey centre and IMAX facility that consistently communicated the floor levels, which were identified by large, school-block letters on colour-coded panels; utilized 3-D illustrated map graphics to highlight key destinations; and showcased photos of the key attractions.

The signs were designed with modular components to allow easy content changes without replacing the entire sign, and can be operated and maintained by the Centre’s internal exhibit group.

Additionally, digital signage was integrated within the wayfinding to address daily program changes, announcements, and sponsorships so vital to learning centre’s mandate and success.
