KDA was selected by Lombard Place Limited to design a signage program for their 4.5 acre multi-use commercial complex, located at the intersection of Winnipeg’s historic Portage Avenue and Main Street. The centre’s existing signage program did not clearly identify that this was a multiple building complex featuring a 34-storey office tower, a retail concourse, a parking centre, an 8-storey office building, and the Fairmont Hotel.
KDA’s strategy was to design a program that would help unify the complex. As the head office location for James Richardson & Sons, KDA recommended changing the name of the complex from Lombard Place to Richardson Centre, and then created a new brand identity that would be used consistently throughout the property.
The program included exterior programmable architectural lighting, branded glass entrance canopies, building tower identification, parking signage and interior wayfinding to all destinations within the complex.
